|2011 Marathon Metal|
This is a decision not to be taken lightly. Lets face it when you commit to running a distance race, it becomes part of your life. The good an the bad. There are so many things you need to take into consideration. First of all it is a wonderful experience because you are learning about what you are capable of. You are challenging yourself, so you determine where you want to set the goal yourself. You need to start thinking about food and drink more. Food becomes more of a fuel, so choosing smartly is important. Making sure you are drinking enough water is equally important.
There is one big equation you need to figure out, and that is training. Last year for the Marathon, I was lucky, my friend Jodi (check out her amazingly motivational blog) had our plan put together for us. This year is going to be a bit different for me. I am going to have to put together the hard work and come up with a plan - that is not to say that I can't email it to my running friends, and ask for additional thoughts, but I have to do the work on my own. I am ready for this task!
This year is also different because I am running on "My Own." Yea read my blog you will see that I ran many races on my own, including the Glass City Half Marathon, and the Cleveland Marathon, but this is different. I can train with the help of my friends, and I am a proud member of the Cleveland West Running Club, and I am sure with OAR (BTW please consider donating to this great cause!) I can join runs as well, however this is going to be a bit different, with my mind set.
So I have to come up with a plan. I know that there are 20 weeks 6 days before the marathon as of today. I also know that I only really need 12 weeks to train for the event, but I want to start ASAP. I have to decide if I want to train based on distance or time ran. I have to decide how far I want my longest run to be. I need to determine my goal finishing time. I also have to decide if there are going to be other races between now and then.
I am confused, and still coming up with a plan. Right now I plan on getting up early tomorrow morning, meeting the girls for a nice morning run, and hoping that the run will clear the fog from my head, they can give me some advice where to start and pick a plan. I can, and will accomplish this, I just have to take it one piece of the puzzle at a time, If I don't I might get overwhelmed.
I know that I will achieve my goals, once I set them. I am excited to get out there and run some more!!!!
